Trowbridge Town

Frome Road Ground - Home of the original Trowbridge Town

The original Trowbridge Town were Southern League opponents of the Lilywhites. The two clubs first met in the expanded Southern League in 1958/59.

Founded in 1880, Trowbridge Town were one of the founder members of the Bristol & District League. For the early part of their history they played their home matches at various grounds around the Town but for the last 50 years of their existence from 1933 they made their home in Frome Road. Here they had a lovely wooden stand, that had been moved from the previous ground, before it was destroyed by fire.

Other home grounds of Trowbridge Town F.C. include Timbrell Street, Wingfield Road (now site of John O'Groat School), The Old Flower Show Ground and Bythesea Road (1923-33 and now the site of the County Hall.) and Frome Road.

In 1998 Trowbridge Town Football Club went out of business and their old Frome Road Ground is now the site of a housing estate.
