Dorchester Town

Dorchester Town, who became league opponents of the Lilywhites in 1984. were founded in 1880. They originally played at the Recreation Ground before in 1929 they moved to a ground close by in the Avenue that was owned by the Duchy of Cornwall. There they originally had as a changing room an old railway carriage before a wooden pavilion and stand was re-erected. This remained their home until in 1990 the site was taken over by Tesco and they moved a very short distance to a new home, the Avenue Stadium, which had been the home of the local rugby club before they moved to Colbury Park.
