Rushden and Diamonds

Rushden and Diamonds

Founded in 1992 as the result of the merger of Rushden Town and Irthlingborough Diamonds, Rushden and Diamonds were for a short period of time league opponents of Lilywhites. Unfortunately they were to get into finanicial trouble and in June 2011 were expelled from the Conference North as they could not guarantee that would be able to complete all their fixtures the following season. Shortly afterwards the Club, who had used the foremr home of Irlingborough Diamonds, was dissolved. Their ground was then used by Kettering Town for a short period of time.

Rushden Town

Founded in 1889, Rushden Town were Southern Premeir League opponents of the Lilywhites for just one season because despite finishing eighth in the division, they were relegated back to the Southern League Midlands because of the poor state of thier Hayden Road ground. This had been their ground since 1922. After their merger with Irthlingborough Diamonds, their old ground was taken over by Rushden Rangers of the Northamptonshire Conference. Rushden Rangers have since merged with Higham United to become Rushden and Higham, they still play at Higham Road.
