Subs used were Andy Pincher for Adams and Peter Leete for Harris. The Lilywhites twice had to come from behind in a thrilling match played at Milton Road. One down after 36 minutes, Simon Ullathorne, who had made his debut in the opening match of the season away at Forest Green Rovers, scored his first competitive goal for the Lilywhites in the 40th minute to make the score 1 all at half-time. Into the second half Tamworth again took the lead on 77 minutes, with their first chance of the half. This looked like being the winner for Tamworth until a cross by Cheetham was headed back across the goal by Leete and their was Gawthrop to stab the ball home through a forest of Tamworth players.
