Long Melford

Founded in 1868, 'The Villagers' were the Lilywhites second league opponents in their inaugural season.

7.11.1908                 Long Melford 4 - 2 Cambridge Town                                                                                                                  This fixture, which was combined with that of East Anglian League. The goalscorers for the Lilywhites were Everitt, Richardson and Doig. There was also an own goal.

13.4.1912                 Cambridge Town 1 - 5 Long Melford                                                                                                                       Played at the new home of Cambridge Town, Hills Road Bridge Ground, the Lilywhites goal came from Ambrose.

19.10.1912               Long Melford 3 - 3 Cambridge Town                                                                                                             Scorers for the Lilywhites were Coe (2) and Ellis. Later that season Long Melford withdrew from the Bury and District League, so the home tie was not played. The match was awarded to them.

6.12.1919                 Long Melford 2 - 4 Cambridge Town                                                                                                                   Watson scored a hat-trick for the Lilywhites with the other goal being an own goal.

28.2.1920                 Cambridge Town 7 - 3 Long Melford                                                                                                                Played at St John's College, as the Lilywhites did not have a home ground of their own. The scorers for the Lilywhites were Allen (3), Kirby (2) and Rowell (2). This was the last season that the Lilywhites played in the Bury and District League.

27.11.1909                Cambridge Town 2 - 0 Long Melford                                                        3rd Qualifying Round Replay              Doig and Goodman scored the goals that took the Lilywhites into round one, where they met Reigate Priory. Having drawn away (3 all), they progressed into the next round as Reigate were unable to travel to Cambridge for the replay.
