Gresley Rovers

Gresley Rovers, who are based in the small Derbyshire village of Church Gresley, were league opponents of the Lilywhites for six seasons from the 1993/94 season. Founded in 1882, they play their home matches at the Moat Ground.

5.10.1996                        Gresley Rovers 3 - 1 Cambridge City                                                                                        Cambridge City was Barry Piggott, Andy Pincher, Keith Lockhart, Steve Gawthrop, Riichard Chattoe, Andy Beattie, John Fowler, Wayne Goddard, Paul Coe, Chris Tovey and Ian Cambridge. Subs used were Rettallick and Harrington. Score for City was Richard Chattoe. Half time score was 1 nil to Gresley Rovers despite City playing with the wind behind their back and down the slop. City having missed a number of chances. In the second half, with City playing into the strong wind Greslay scored two further goals though Richard Chattoe did pull one back for City. His goal being the first one that Gresley had conceded at home that season.

Mark McCammon was making his debut for the Lilywhites, having signed from Cambridge United. While the goalscorer for the Lilywhites was Pincher.
