Founded in 1890, the Lilywhites visit met Weymouth in 1959. Since those early days they have moved to moved to a new stadium, which was opened by Ron Greenwood on October 21st, 1987, and replaced their original home ground. The old ground, in the centre of Weymouth, has since been demolished and an Asda Supermarket built on the site.

The Wessex Stadium, home of Weymouth Football Club since 1987, was renamed in July 2011 the Bob Lucas Stadium after the Club President. He was to die shortly afterwards from cancer.

Subs used were Adam Martin for Lee (67th minute), Danny Kelly for Dawkin (71st) and Steven Bundschuh for Bossman (79th minute). With Nick Beasant not available, Will Lawton played his first match for three months having been injured against Hemel Hempsteaad on November 30th. The Lilywhites were also without Ieuan Lewis, who was out injuried, and the suspended pair of James Brighton and Robbie Burns. Needing to win to put pressure on the teams above them, The Lilywhites gained all three points despite going behind in the 20th minute. Within six minutes of going behind, Andy Marriott had scored the first of his two goals and then in the 40th minute Kelvin Bossman made it 2-1 to the Lilywhites. Marriott was to make it 3-1 on 53 minutes. After Weymouth scored their second, Bossman complete the scoring on the night and a 4-2 victory for Cambridge.

Having beaten Histon 6 nil in their last match, the Lilywhites went into the match with a spring in their step only to go behind in the 9th minute when Stewart Yetton scored for Weymouth. This proved to be the only goal of the game, with both sides missing a number of good chances, In the second half, the Lilywhites had a clear penalty turned down by the officials after push on Chris Bacon, who was making his first appearances for the Lilywhites after returning from America. Former Icelandic Under 21 international, Heidar Julisson also came off the bench to make his Lilywhites debut. As well as the match, the Club also held a Fun Day Event which after the main match there was a beat the goalkeeper competion with Zac Barrett in goal.
