Swindon

The first Swindon Club we played was Swindon Town in the F.A. Cup back in 1946.

Swindon Town

F.A. Cup

30.11.1946          Swindon Town 4 - 1 Cambridge Town                                                                   First Round               Cambridge Town team: Tony Gallago, Bill Harmer, Harry Bullen, George Dean, Ron Saddington, L J Parr, Jackie Woods, Jack Chapman, George Ferguson, Freddy Barnard and Joe Gallego. A crowd of 16,161, the largest the Lilywhites have ever play in front of, saw them play in the first round of the F.A. Cup for the very first time at the County Ground in Swindon. On a mud bath of a pitch, the Lilywhites nearly went in front early in the match when a shot from Joe Gallego hit the woodwork. Any chance of an upset was ended when Welsh international, Billy Lucas, scored twice for Swindon in the 15th and 25th minute. Bill Stephens scored a third for Swindon before Jackie Woods scored for the Lilywhites. Stephens later scored a fourth for Swindon from the penalty spot.

Swindon Supermarine

Until the 2008/09 season we had never played Swindon Supermarine. The Club had been founded in 1992 as the result of the merger of two established clubs, Swindon United and Supermarine, who were both at that time having problems.
