The very first meeting between the Lilywhites and Hungerford Town had due to take place on December 21st, 2013 but was postponed because the Hungerford pitch, like so many clubs, was water logged. That season was Hungerford's first season in the Southern League Premier, having gained promotion via the play offs at the end of the previous season.
Founded in 1886, they play their home matches at the Town Ground in Bulpit Lane, Hungerford.
Cambridge City v Hungerford Town (Feb 22nd, 2014)
Southern League Premier
22,2,2014 Cambridge City 0 - 0 Hungerford Town Cambridge City team: James Wren, Jackson Ramm, Tom Pepper, Nick Beasant, Lee Chaffey, Josh Beech, David Prada, Adam Martin, Kelvin Bossman, Adam Marriott and Josh Dawkin. Subs used were Louis Lee for Bossman and Steven Bundschuh for Prada. Played at the Glassworld Stadium, Hungerford did what only St Albans had done before this season, stop the Lilywhites from scoring, in a game that the Lilywhites had seen little of the ball in the first half and could easily have found themselves 2 nil down but for two fine saves by Wren. Despite having much more of the ball in the second half they still found it hard to break down a well marshaled Hungerford team, so for the latter part of the game, they sent on the recently signed German striker, Steven Bundschuh for his debut,. He had been signed earlier in the week from German side, TSV Hoepfingen and looked a good signing.
