Frome Town

Badgers Hill Ground, Frome

The Lilywhites first played the Frome Town from Somerset on August 27th, 2011 in the Southern Premier. Frome, who were founded in 1904, were new to the Southern Premier having gained promotion by beating Sholing in the play-off final at the end of the previous season.

27.8.2011                           Cambridge City 2 - 3 Frome Town                                                                                           Cambridge City team: Zac Barrett, Liam Nicell, Jonathan O'Donnell, Dave Theobald, Alex Lacey, Adie Cambridge, Tom Burke, Robbie Nightingale, Dan Kelly, Neil Midgley and Luke Robins. Subs used were Dubi Ogbonna for Midgley and Craig Hammond for Kelly. Subs for the Lilywhites were Burke from the penalty spot in the third minute of the first-half extra time and Hammond in the 78th minute. Kelly was making his debut for the Lilywhites having been signed after being released by Barnet in the summer. He was a former Republic of Ireland U19 International.

24.3.2012                           Frome Town 1 - 1 Cambridge City                                                                                          Cambridge City team: Barrett, Ben Islam, Pat Bexfield, Theobald, Victor Torres, Cambridge, David Bradbury, David Prada, Hammond, Adam Marriott and Lee Clift. Subs used were Nightingale for Prada, Lee Chaffey for Bexfield and Kim Forsythe. Craig Hammond scored for the Lilywhites in the 24th minute. Adam Marriott was making his debut for the Lilywhites having been signed on loan from Cambridge United, While Kim Forsythe came of the bench to make his debut.

15.9.2012                            Cambridge City 1 - 2 Frome Town                                                                                         Cambridge City team: Barrett, Bexfield, James Brighton, Theobald, Tom Pepper, Nightingale, Luke Allen, Cambridge, Hammond, Mitchell Bryant and Joey Abbs. Subs were Prada, Midgley and Lester. Scorer for the Lilywhites was Craig Hammond. Zac Barrett was playing his first league match of the season, having missed the first 6 with a broken hand.

27.3.2013                            Frome Town 0 - 3 Cambridge City                                                                                                       Cambridge City team: Barrett, Jackson Ramm, Pepper, Theobald, Danny Blanchett, Cambridge, Ieuan Lewis, Nightingale, Craig Calver, Marriott and Ashley Fuller. Subs used were Prada, Midgley and Hurst. Adam Marriott scored two of the goals for the Lilywhites with the third being scored by Craig Calver.

12.4.2014                         Cambridge City 2 - 0 Frome Town                                                                                                      Cambridge City team: Zac Barrett, Tom Pepper, James Brighton, Will Lawton, Lee Chaffey, Josh Beech, Ieuan Lewis, Adam Martin, Danny Kelly, Adam Marriott and Josh Dawkin. Subs used were Andrew Phillips for Kelly and Robbie Burns for Dawkin. The first meeting between the Lilywhites and Frome Town at Bridge Road kicked off at 15.07 in respect of those who had lost their lives 25th years ago in the Hillsborough tragedy. The Lilywhites went into the game without David Prada and Kelvin Bossman, who were both out injured. While the game itself saw both teams miss a number of good chances and the Lilywhites soon found themselves in a true battle despite going in front when Danny Kelly scored his first goal since his recent return to the club from Australia. This was on 13th minute. The match could have easily gone either way until in the 90th minute Adam Marriott scored his 40th league goal of the season. The victory took them above St Albans, who had lost to Poole, and into 3rd place with just three games to play. Away at Poole and Banbury and at home to Corby.
