Founded in 1947, Bashley Football is located in the small village of Bashley, which is just outside of New Milton and on the edge of the New Forest. Their home ground, the Hoburne Ground, is just off the Bashley Road.

With a strong wind, which made it hard to defend against the wind, the Lilywhites were forced in the first half to play on the break as most of the play was confined to the midfield. Despite this they lead two nil at half-time as a result of two goals by Adam Marriott, Kicking with the wind in the second half, they soon went 4 nil up with stricks by Josh Dawkin in the 47th and 48th minute, In the 63rd minute, Adam Marriott completed his hat-trick. He was also to score again in the 70th and 76th minute. Though Bashley pulled one back in the 79th minute, they were truly out classed by a rampant Cambridge side. Before the match there had been a minute silence in memory of life long City fan, Jimmy Nunn who had died recently at the age of 89.

Subs used were Andrew Phillips for Danny Kelly, Sam Kelly for Beech and Robbie Burns for Lewis. The Lilywhites went into the game without Louie Lee and Jackson Ramm, who were both unavailable, and the David Prada who is recovering from injury. They also lost James Brighton, who got held up in traffic on route to Bashley. In the end it did not effect the result as five second half goals saw the Lilywhites thrash the New Forest side, who continue to battle for survival off the pitch. In an even first half, the Lilywhites went in front when Adam Marriott scored in the 27th minute. After the break the lead was stretch when he scored again in the 59th minute, this time from the penalty spot. Further goals came from Josh Beach (71st minute) and Josh Dawkin (78th) before Marriott completed his hat-trick in the 81st minute. Three minutes later Marriott scored his fourth, that goal taking him league goals for the season to 39. The match also saw Zac Barrett achieve the mark of 100 clean sheets for the Lilywhites. The record number of clean sheets is held by Kevin Murray.
