11.1978 Linton Granta 1 - 3 Cambridge City Cambridge City team: Kevin Murray, Tony Rule, Kevin Herridge, Mel Green, Tony Tuddenham, Dave Lill, Peter McVey, Neil King, Peter Jeffrey, Dave Simmons and Steve Kearns. Sub used was 16 year old Geoff Mills who replaced the injured Tony Rule in the 77th minute. Played on the Recreation Ground in Linton, this fixture had to kick-off at 2pm because there was no floodlights on the ground. The Lilywhites went in front in the 36th minute when Dave Simmons scored with a header but were reduced to 10 minute two minutes later. Simmonds being sent off for his reaction after a fool by Linton's Murray McKenzie. The Lilywhites looked in trouble after Linton leveled the scores only for Peter Jeffrey to score in the 77th minute after being set up following a dazzling run by Geoff Mills. Five minutes later Dave Lill scored from the penalty spot to make the victory safe.
5.3.2013 Cambridge City 3 - 2 Linton Granta (after extra time) Cambridge City team: Jason George, Alex Fulcher, Gareth Roberts, Will Lawton, Rob Strutton, David Prada, Ieuan Lewis, Louis Lee, John Fear, Neil Midgley and Sam Kelly. Subs used were Tom Barham, Ramon Fennell and Mateusz Kuzimski. The Lilywhites put out very much a reserve team for this twice re-arranged fixture, both of the earlier matches having been fallen foul to a waterlogged pitch,, as the first time had played at Hungerford the night before.
